I loved ordering root beer floats as a kid. The combination of creamy vanilla ice cream and fizzy root beer was the ultimate treat especially in the hot summer months. Adding alcohol can give the classic root beer float an adult twist. Spiking the rich and creamy drink with bourbon adds more complex flavors and is perfect for when you want a drink and dessert in one. I love eating the float right away so the ice cream doesn’t have time to melt and
it can be eaten partly with a spoon.
Scoop the vanilla ice cream into a tall glass.
Add the bourbon then slowly pour the root beer over the top, stopping to let the foam settle before adding more.
Serve immediately with a straw and long spoon.
