Nothing says summer like the nostalgic flavor of an orange creamsicle. Growing up in New Jersey, I’d wait for the ice cream truck and skip the chocolate cones or firecracker popsicles – my pick was always that refreshing swirl of orange and cream. These homemade orange creamsicle ice pops recreate that same sweet, tangy, and creamy flavor in a healthier, easy-to-make version.

Made with fresh orange juice and creamy yogurt, they’re the perfect balance of tart and sweet. The flavor also gives a nod to the classic orange Julius, the beloved frothy orange drink that’s equally refreshing and creamy. By alternating layers of orange juice mixture and yogurt, these pops freeze into a beautiful marbled treat that’s as pretty as it is delicious. Key Ingredients in This Recipe

  • Orange juice – I use pulp free orange juice is this recipe for a smooth popsicle. You can also use freshly squeezed orange juice and strain the pulp from it if desired.
  • Yogurt – I use vanilla whole milk yogurt in this recipe though plain can also be used.
  • Sugar – I add a touch of sugar to sweeten the ice pops but it can be easily omitted.
  • Food coloring – I add orange food coloring to the orange mixture to create a stronger orange color. This way it creates marbling effect that contrasts with the white yogurt. You can omit if desired though it will cause a duller color.

Swaps and substitutions

  • The creamsicle ice pops can always be made with a non-dairy yogurt alternative for a dairy-free option. Try swapping the vanilla yogurt for coconut milk, almond milk yogurt, or heavy cream for a richer option.
  • The food coloring can easily be omitted for a lighter color ice pop.
  • The orange juice can easily be swapped for another juice like watermelon, strawberry or mango for other flavorful yogurt popsicles!
  • The vanilla yogurt can be swapped for plain yogurt and a teaspoon of vanilla extract if needed.
