Ingredients

(1 stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature
2/3
cup
butter flavored shortening (I use Crisco®)

cup
granulated sugar

packed cup dark brown sugar

teaspoon
vanilla

large eggs,
at room temperature

all-purpose flour

teaspoon
table salt

teaspoon
baking soda

semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions
Preheat oven to 350ºF (180ºC).
In the bowl of a stand mixer beat the butter, shortening, sugar, brown sugar and vanilla until creamy.
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
In another large bowl, sift together the flour, salt and baking soda.
Slowly add the flour mixture until it has all been incorporated. Stir in the chocolate chips.
Roll the dough into medium-size balls (roughly the size of a golf ball) and drop onto a buttered baking sheet.
Bake until puffy and just lightly browned, about 7 to 10 minutes. Remove from oven and move cookies to a cooling rack.
Continue with the remaining dough. Store in a re-sealable container or freeze for later.
